Historical Items of Interest
- Successor to the Kauai Railway Company, founded in 1906.
Principal Activities-hauling sugar and supplies between plantation
and port and conducting terminal operations at Eleele Landing.
- In 1907, Kauai Railway Company began building breakwater, wharf
and other improvements at Eleele Landing (renamed Port Allen in
1909)
- Building supply department established, 1928.
- Company changed name to Kauai Terminal, Ltd., 1936.
- Remaining railway operations taken over by trucks, 1947.
- Company divested itself of terminal (stevedoring) operations,
changed name to Kauai Commercial Company, 1951.
- In 1971, company divested itself of building supply department and
concentrated on trucking.
- Moved to modern facility at present site in Puhi, 1985.
